Hard to see by pics, but picked up this plate half dead for $5.00. a few months ago. The only reason was because I know how they reproduce, and YEA!!!! 3 new babies!!! There may be more, but this is what I noticed today!!
I got a plate 3 weeks ago and it had two places that look dead and have a little hair algae growing there. will this get better? I have been feeding it mystis shrimp and it seems to be doing well, how did you bring yours back?
Mine was past bringing back when I bought it. They grow babies on the skelaton after they are gone. NM did a great post on plates, try doing a search and read it. They can heal, is there a way you can remove the algea without harm to the flesh?
7 babies so far!!
Nemo - either sell or trade or keep
Snailheave (yuk) No not dead, flesh was receding....dying. Need good water chemistry for it to happen
oh yeah!! thanks so much for reminding me!! i read that post too and i remembered that my LFS has a dieing florecent green plate in their live rock tank so it wont screw up their display... well obviously a plate will not do better in a tank with cycling liverock!!! I forgot to ask them about it but i will do it tomorrow!!
siiiiiiiick!
