I'm a nub. What is this?

It came on the live rock. When I first added the rock it was almost dead. Now, 3 weeks later it seems to be thriving and doing great, but what is it?

Yeah, this is an easy coral, keep it up, it is spreading well which is a sign that you can take on some harder things.

It does appear to have spread. The tanks is nearing the end of the cycle... I was surprised to see it do so weel.

This is algae. Get a good cleaning crew once your tank is finished cycling. Or look for fish that like to sift the sand. Check out the gobys. There are some good ones.
