ok so i thought for some odd reason that i could get the sand into the bottom of my reef tank without bringing the apocolipse to my fish and corals....i figured if i used a pvc pipe to funnel it to the bottom it wouldnt cloud up to bad....WRONG now i cant even find my fish in the tank, wondering if this is going to kill them or not? i pulled my corals out and put them into some fresh salt water but thats all i can find in there. all pumps are off also

If you have some carbon for filtration i would run it. It will help clear it up faster. As for the fish i think they will be ok. But you may have kicked off a mini cycle. Check your parameters.

You are definitely not an idiot. You are here, which makes you much more intelligent than a lot of people.
I would just let it be. Check your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings. If they are high, maybe pick up a bottle of Turbo Start or AmmoVec (by Sera). Both of these products will add beneficial bacteria to your water to lower the levels faster. Your fish will probably be fine though.

For future reference you should have simply pre cured your dry sand with tank water from a water change, this will coat it with bacteria and help to weight it down so that it doesn't cloud up near as much.

actualy i did exactly what you said, changed out about 40% of the water and used that to mix into the dry sand, let that settle out some and dumped off the top water.
it has been a couple hours now and things are def settling down, i can see into the tank now, and all of my LR is coated in sand, any reccomendations on how to get it off without reclouding the tank?

The dry sand should have been cured, heated, stirred over several days before use. You will need to use a turkey baster to get the sand off of the live rock but that will also cloud up the tank more. Not sure that there is any getting around it.

i didnt cure the live sand cause the bag recommened against it, but i always thought it had to be cured also
