Well after 2 years of college and many nites sitting alone at starbucks trying to figure out what i wanted to do with my life and leaving this hobby behind I feel I am in the middle of my BS in mechanical engineering, and am coop/interning at mercruiser and moving in with my girlfriend my life is going great.
Enough of the sob stuff, I am getting back into this hobby full throttle so my question is will a Banana moray (dwarf) be happy lifelong in a 200 gal?
I only want him in there as of right now, but if that tank will hold him nicely with room to have fish I will put in some, but I know this guy is aggressive and quite expensive so I cannot mess up with this guy?
Any ideas on filtration for this guy?
I was thinking 100-150lbs of LR?

I would suspect that a banana eel should do fine in a 200 gallon. Thats a big tank. If u get live rock, try to set it up so that there are plenty of crevices/ caves. Fiji is great stuff, and so is caribbean lettuce rock. PVC piping helps as well. Eels are hardy, as long as you feed them a good healthy diet and keep other larger or aggressive fish in there. It all depends on the specimen. Some are totally territorial, some are better than others. You might be able to put in a larger tang, maybe a grouper, a lion. Nothing small though. Feed it like chopped seafodd from the market, silversides, krill, live ghost shrimp. Keeping it fat and happy is a good thing. :D I might get like a leapord/chainlink/snowflake soon, so im kinda psyched!! Happy 4th, and good job getting back in the hobby:cheer:

yea thanx and from what I have been reading the banana is very aggressive so he will be with maybe another eel on the other side of the tank.
I am thinking have 2 large cave/crevice rock formations with like a gorge in the middle so both eels will think they have a distinct surronding all to themselves...
But before I jump into that I am going to grab a 12 gal Nano and reef it just to get me back into the swing of things while the big one is cycling and im saving up for rock and lights :scared:

Good plan. I just started an aggressive eel only tank. I think that a yellow head is going to sit in mine though. Well, maybe a few choice morsels (damsels) to keep him interested!

Since the Banana eel only gets 12 inches at a max it might actually be a better fit for a small tank, but a large tank would work too.
