I've been critical yes, argumentative yes, tried to consider both sides yes. At no time do I believe I was rude or attacked anyone without explanation. Magic_carp, for some reason you felt otherwise and your negativity is not appreciated. Am I long-winded H**L YES. But I feel, personally, that everything I said was neccessary in order convey my point.
NM Reef, and broomer5 and Bang Guy - I hope you all understand that I meant no harm. I've had "discussions" with all of you on various topics in the past, and have nothing but the upmost respect for you. And yes, NM's wesite is great. And it's kinda obvious that swf would have no problem with it - it almost pushes people here. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, it NM's website and he can do as he/she pleases.)
My inquisitiveness is what spurred my interest and involvement in this thread. I have ordered from swf.com and feel they have great livestock(never did a drygoods order). Just like Alison, I feel these forums are a great tool, and would hate to lose them. I just hate to lose all the valuable information on other members websites due to links to other sites. And believe me, I completely understand swf.com's stance.
To reiterate my most important point ... wait long-winded warning for magic_carp
....
A perfect example is that I have pictures and a process for making my own rock. The recipe - method - even pictures. OK, now I want to share this with my swf friends. Only problem is that I want to give the creator's of this method their due kudos. But I can't since they sell umm... g*** grunge which is direct competition to swf's LR (more or less). So then I'm in the situation where I have to give the shaft to someone. I guess I just have to make a references page and tell people to e-mail me so I can give credit where credit is due? If anyone here were to make up something like a new filtration method, share it and not get credit wouldn't you get angry?
That's why I question things, because I try to look at it from all angles. Not being a marketing major, would it be all THAT bad to have swf.com and ****.org listed right next to each other? Persanlly, I don't think so. But again, I'm not in the business for myself, and as such I'm just an outsider with an uneducated opinion and hippies for parents. Now really - can you blame me for my relatively harmless questioning? OK long-winded over
Magic_carp, you can resume reading this thread. I'm off to visit shut_up.com for the rest of the evening.
Thanks!
