I'm gettin' a free 125 or 180 FW setup! WOOOHOOO!

Last week, one of the guys that works for one of my builders asked me if I wanted a 6 foot long tank. I told him I wasnt sure where I'd put it but H#@L yeah!
So today I called his mom and have arranged for pickin the thing up this saturday. Neither of them knew what the actual volume is of it, but it's 6 foot long, so I'm fuguring either 125 or 180. When I talked to her this evening on the phone she said it was as tall as it is wide, so I'm now pretty sure it's a 180. Complete freshwater setup with stand and lights and what she said was some kinda hang on back filter :thinking: (thinking maybe a H.O.T magnum). Stocked with about 20 fish. She didn't know the names but from what I gather she's got 4 rather large plecostumus, and she thought some oscars and I think by what she described some cichlids. I know, that doesnt sound right though, but I'll find out saturday! OH and did I say it's FREE!
This deserves another banana!

well is it going to be a sw and the fish are going into a diff tank or back to the lfs?

Yeah my deam too!!
I'll have to keep it a FW for a while, probably a year or two. $$$ being the issue there. Plus my wife wont allow it in the living room
, so when we add on the new den it'll go in there. Right now out goes the futon in my home office to make room.
Eventually it'll plumb into my 65 reef and be an FOWLR setup.
SWEEEET! I wont be able to sleep for a week!

And more bananas!

haha i dont know i expected more as well they are all jelous as i have just gottena a 90 gal sw .. so im satisfied.. we ae both happy?! lol
anyways if you can get the ,easurements i can tell you the gllonage.. i nned legth hieght and depth
then divide my like LxWxD dicided by 231 or something i gotta look

My wallet will never recover. Awesome on the 90
.I'm pretty sure it's a 180, she said she thought 250 but I dont think they make a 250 thats 6 foot long. So..... figuring it to be 72X24X24....It'd be a 180!
But well see.

Hey scuba guy, sorry but that's a no go on that.
But being as I live in ozark too, you can come by and gaze at it every now and then.
I scuba too, as well as my 2 kids. :happyfish

btw i dont think you should get tangS in a 56 Possibly ONE but i dont mean to be the tang police but if you do the 180 sw you can have like 5 tangs!!!!!

Nothing beats free!My neighbor with a 180g kept telling me I needed a larger tank. I started with a 30g to get my feet wet.One day he knocks on my door and tells me he has a 75g for me. Iasked how much and he says free! And gives me the plans to build a stand. The rest is history.I built a stand and now a canopy!By the way the lights were free from another friend,384w pc with moonlights. You gotta love that free stuff!
Man.I hope ypu have a strong floor!

do you have the plans still for the 75 canopy.. i would love a canopy but dont know hjow to build em i have a 90 gal and its the same stand so your plans will work for me i assum if you have them could you send a copy to my email or start a thred saying DIY 75 g canopy?

totaly depends on your floor structure....
free 180. color me jealous.
tell me your gonna ditch the FW and turn it into a reef.

Believe me, in a year or two, it'll be a FOWLR. But for now, I promised her i would take care of the fish she has in it. Plus were talking bout some greenbacks to go that route, let alone reef. I've allready put out quite a bit on my 65 in the last 10 mo.s and not finished with it yet. So it'll be FW for a while now.
gonna see about some bracing now!

Congrats, I am happy for you, I know how happy I was when I started out this hobby in april and our friend gave us a 42 / 50 gallon, not sure what it is....but I am upgrading for sure to a 135....but hey yours was free...in the words of the infamous
