I am buying a stand for 55 gallon reef.
The tank is currently on the bar between my kitchen and living room.
We are getting new furniture and the new sofa will be next to the bar and since I have to use a chair to work on the tank, this creates a problem.
I am going to go ahead and clean the red bubble algae off of my LR during the move and also scrub some nuisance hair algae off also.
If I scrub these rocks in salt water, this should not hurt the beneficial bacteria, right?
Also, any tips on moving a tank to a different location or things to watch out for would be helpful.
Thanks.

wont be a problem with killing the bacteria if you use saltwater. Also easiest way to move a tank is to empty it as much as possible. Since you are pulling all of the rock out anyway, after you scrub it put it in a bucket, or some other container with tank water in it. Drain the water down as low as possible, at least at or right above the sand. Then with the help of some friends move the tank carefully ( so as not to cause any stress from torsion or bending) move it to the stand. Good Luck!

No water in the tank when moving it!!!! It will crack if there is water in it!!! And save atleast 75% of the water and add back. Get rubbermaid containers and move every thing that way. I gues it depends on how far the move. A couple of battery air pumps should be fine. Thats how I did it!!

I agree, rubbermaid, but salt clean it first to get rid of the plasti-scent, dust and oil, if they are new tubs. 75% of tank yes. (I have a feeling you know this). Be sure to plan for airation of the tubs and cover. (several things come to mind about simmering and throwing noodles at the wall)
I'd hate to see you scrub the rock, TX (do you have coraline?), but what a chance! As a matter of course, I would scrub the rock with tank water, if you can. I don't think you really want to flush the LR? That would be a 100% water change?
Keep imagining the treat you are in for....
You can move the tank like a human with a broken back (it is a 55, so not terribly prone to flex) with the help of some good compadres. I have moved mine with some water, just above the sandbed, you do NOT want to bother that sandbed.
Grab the drink umbrellas..
And the drink. (whiskey, neat, for me, thank you)
