I checked my nitrates today after i did my weekly water change yesterday and they are 0.About 5 months ago i had extremely high trates and done big water changes to get them down to 10 - 20 i have been doing weekly changes since january.I have never had trates at 0.I'm now a firm believer in weekly changes.

Such a good feeling when you get to that point now to maintain it.I just wanted those nitrates to go away over night and man it don/t work that way.I just stayed patient like everyone on board said and bam 4 months later the hard work has paid off.I also have not been adding anything to tank and alk, calcium and coral are all on track doning great and loving it.

Yes I do weekly 10% changes as well and 0 nitrates...Its a pain, but its just got to be better for the fish.

nope it doesnt count, the evaporation is actually making all the bad stuff get worse in the tank. the only thing that is evaporating is straight up h2o. so think about it, your ratio of h2o to bad stuff is one thing before evap. then after the evap, the h2o gets less and the bad stuff stays the same, so your water quality gets worse with evap. thats why its always good to do weekly water changes.
