the guy that setup my tank a little over a year ago 220 gallon with 40 sump
put in a 1400gph sub pump.....i always felt like i needed morelike a second one..ps has them on sale quiet one for 45...i got another one 1400 gph .and stuck it inthere...i noticed it increased my water flow throw my sump tremdously and my skimmer seemed to kick in better...maybe this will help with my algea problem..i never had a flow through my pads like i do now...man that sound wrong lol

I had a guy do mine initial tank and he shortcutted me at every turn. Eventually this caused a huge crash and loss of lots of livestock. I trust the people here before I trust most people running LFSs. I re-did my original 90 and added a 220 and a 100 on my own using advice I got here and have had very little problems since.

well you really dont want blazing fast water going thru your sump. For more circulation use a closed loop or powerheads.
what type of algae problem? Do you run GFO? ************** has a great reactor that may help.

now it looks like the lfs wet dry flow....
That is why they are called a trickle filter. That is what they are supposed to do. It sounds like it was setup correctly in the beginning. As stated above you would be better off adding power heads or closed loop for more flow.
