If my carpet anemone should die, .. which its doing ok right now... but if it should.. do i remove it out of the tank as soon as possible ??? Will it pollute the tank??
Also.. do hermit crabs shed or molt??
My blue leged hermit was sitting on the sand of tank this moring abd i have never seen them come out like that.

Becky, if your anemone dies, you should remove it asap, it will cause problems with your tank. Your nitrates will go up.
As for the hermits molting, I'm not sure if they do, I've never seen ours molt. Lisa

How will i know when its dead?? What will i tlook like?? Today when i moved it a little i noticed it stuck to my glove so it still has its stinging ability! :rolleyes:

Rumor has it Carpets will poison a tank if it dies. My scarlet reef hermit just molted lasy Thursday.

A dying anemone will rapidly disintergrate, then you will know.
What equipment, lights and water parameters do you have in your tank?

I have 50/50 reef lights .. water is good. ph at 8.3 -8.4, amonia 0, nitires 0 , nitrates about 0 to .2
salinty 1.24 tem about 78

One thing an anemone can do when it is dying is turn inside out. I know this sounds weird but in the past (before I stopped keeping them) they did this frequently. They also start to break up. It is important to get them out carefully without having the tissue get all over the tank.
Hermit crabs molt. They also need bigger shells to move into as they grow. You should have several extras lying around the tank.

Your lights are prolly too weak for an anemone. Alkalinity was missing in your water parameter measurements also.
