Just came home from the LFS with a 34g Solana. Havent even begun to set it up. Have had a succesfull FO salt tank 15 years ago and reset up a FO tank some months ago. But have always loved the reefs. Well the wife said do it today at the store so i did! Did i make a good choice? Any help or input would be appreciated on all levels. Any changes needed? I purchased the PC hood as the guy(who always seems fair) said i can do pretty much everything in there except stony corals. Threw in a Koralia 1 also. Is that enough flow? Am open to all input.

don't know what the price difference between the PC light and the HQI but IMO you would have been happier long term with the HQI. It would allow you in the future to keep anything you wanted to, clams SPS coral, rather than have to upgrade later. If it were me I would do it now if I could afford to. Great tank though keep this tread going as you set it up please. Oh yeah and include lots of pictures.

Listen to the old man. I bought the standard 29 Biocube, spent a goodly amount of money on the nanotuners 4.36 PC upgrade before going to the Sunpod HQI. If I had known then what I know now I would have went straight to the Sunpod. It was a waste of money and time the way I did it.
Of course this is JMO.

I was willing to pay more for the halides but he actually talked me out of them. Said it would be more trouble than it was worth. Said they give off allot of heat and might give me problems later on. I guess i can always get one later on if needed. Probably wont even get started till the weekend.

I have a 34gal solana with the sunpod and I have not had any heat issues with it yet. I might need to get a chiller in the summer but I don't mind. What do you plan on stocking it with?

I have no idea what it is going to be stocked with. i am going to have to do allot of reseearch and see where it takes me. i have never had anything other than fish. Opinions welcome. i guess i will start with the easy stuff, if there is such a thing. Probably get some live rock over the weekend and then give the list some thought. Any links, threads, etc. you guys recommend for a total reef newbie?
