CBS and MSNBC fired him because of Jackson and Sharpton's racketeering. they go around to companies and threaten to yell "racist! racist!" unless they get what they want. that is how they have made their millions, and that is how Imus was fired. that is the very definition of "racketeering". if you don't believe me, look it up. how they've never been convicted shows the double standard. if you're an Italian racketeer, you get called "don" and get to spend the rest of your days in federal prison. but if you're a black racketeer, you get called "Reverend" and get to make millions.
With all due respect...that is a big stretch...You can't compare what these men are doing to criminals. We all know the bottomline is the mighty dollar. Now there are some CEO's or whatever that may have their morals and values in line, but I'd say for the most part that if these execs.. didn't lose in advertising $$$, he would still have a job.
And in regards to that Duke case... I believe the person who is responsible for the whole thing is the DA... There are many cases of women who wrongly accuse men of such crimes...for one reason or another... I don't think that this case has anything to do with JJ or Sharpton and should not be included in the Imus discussion.

racketeering is racketeering, it's illegal. it's illegal blackmail. and that's what Jackson and Sharpton do.
as far as the Duke case, I didn't even mention it, so you were talking to me or someone else? I WILL say that Jackson shouldn't be calling anyone racist since he made the famous "Jaimetown" slur, and Sharpton during the Tawana Brawley case calling a completely innocent DA "a racist and a rapist" when the DA was nothing of the sort. these are two racist racketeers who should not be calling anyone else racists. further, they made themselves a part of the story so they absolutely should be brought up. they are the main reasons he was fired.

I still don't know what exactly he got fired for... the nappy haired or the ho part. if nappy haired, how is that racial? if ho, then its not racial so what's the problem and why didn't the producer get fired?

welcome to the real world though. it happens. it will always happen. he was (on the air) an equal opportunity degrader. His camp has more minority cancer patients in it than white, so he's no racist IMO, just a shock jock.

There is always satellite radio, he can hideout with Stern -LOL
This backfired for Jackson and Sharpton now their extortion hush money won't be forthcoming.
I am very impressed by the way the coach and athletes have responded

The producer should be fired if he hasn't been already. The reason why Imus got fired is becasue advertisers pulled....If you notice he was suspended first. Then came the reports about the sponsors.... next day he is fired. I don't remember any direct protests targeting sponsors. I think they waited to see what the Radio execs decided and then they made their decision. It seems to me that some people feel like the whole genre of rap and hip hop are responsible for this...But that is a very closed minded assumption because there are several variances of this type of music. So many people are saying that its the rappers... and I do agree with that in part, however when was the last time you heard a rapper say this.... I'd say 99/100 if they say the word in question it is referring to a permiscous (spelling) woman.... Why does Imus have the right or the knowledge to say this about these student athletes? Not only was his comments bigoted they were totally out of context.
Another thing hat I forgot to show to attempt to persuade you that it is no double standard ....if you guys are news watchersthere was the story about the black CBA coach that made a comment to reporters that he has "Jew Lawyers" and they will bury someone because they are crafty and etc... he got fired too.... You just can't make comments that are offensive to people, espeically if you have a voice and represent a comany.

turn on your local teen/rap radio station and there is MUCH worse. And those guys are millionaires. Who owns their record labels?? What parent company owns the radio stations that play the offening music. Parent company could be whom? It would be interesting to find this out.

Good point... I think that comics like Chris Rock do it to raise more awarness of racial relations and sterotypes, same for someone like Dave Chappell and Bill Maer (?)... There are usually many white people who attend their shows...
Do you think they get offended while in the audience??
The comics you mentioned will also make comments about black racial slurs...
and the dyanmics in which they are used by blacks and whites.
