If temperature is a problem you need an inverter/battery or a generater.
You can also get bettery operated air pumps. They run a long time on one set of batteries but will not provide as much flow as the power heads.
I use 2 200watt inverters, 1 400 watt inverted, 1 800 watt inverter and 6 100 amphour batteries. I also have a small generater. ( I have 14 tanks in several locations)
To select an inverter add the power of all the powerheads , skimmers ,heaters, etc.
Example; My 55g FW tank has a 200 watt heater and 2 filters that are abought 15 watt each. This is 230 watts if everything is running. I use a 200watt inverter that is ratted at 300 watts intermitent. The heater will not be on all the time so I can use the 200w/300intermitent inverter.
With a 100 amp hour battery this will run for 5 to 7 hours.
Anyhthing you can do to keep the heat in the tank will help make it run longer; Put a planket or other insulation around the tank, Use a portable heater (LP) to keep the room warm etc. Don T.
