NM reef, what about the Hang-on refugiums? They are quite a bit larger than the inside tank variety. Or would a good skimmer in an established tank provide copods and other beneficial critters for the reef? Thanx!

I use one on my 55 gal. (hob) its full of micro and live rock, and have a lot of pods to feed my tank.

a skimmer will not provide copepods
i havae not used an in-tank refugium mearly because i think they are a rip-off
my LFS sells them for like 50-60 bucks!! THink about it!! a tiny little acrylic box.... 4 suction cups, and a small poorly-manufactured powerhead for 50-60 bucks!!!
They only thing they can do is act as a holding place for macro-algae because there are holes all over it.
My LFS has a larger one on a tank where they sell the macro out of. but i think it is jsut a waste of space
i was going to go with the HOB model, but instead im making my own. Got some acrylic to make a 30 gallon coustom shape so i can fit it to my needs
