Inception

I'm fairly cynical when it comes to movies. Especially when it comes to the PG-13 "thriller" movies. But Inception was pretty dang good. I highly recommend it...

It looked like a strange move...I can't figure out what it is about by the advertisements..can you give a heads up and tell me something about it?

It's kind of hard to describe haha, but basically it's about a team who is able to use a hand held machine that allows them to tap into the subconscious of a sedated person. This team is then able to create a dream world of whatever they want with a dream architect (selected person who designs levels of the subconscious in the mind of the person who is being tapped into). They do so in order to retrieve information from whomever they are tapping into unknowingly. For example if someone was hiding 3 billion dollars they could create a dream world in which the sedated billionaire would reveal the location of the money, they call this extraction in the movie. Leonardo DiCaprio's character is wanted for suspected murder of his wife but can have the charges dropped if he does one more job, the only thing is that it's not extraction it's inception which is the planting of an idea or essentially creating false inspiration. So if you use the billion dollar example again but with inception you could plant the idea in the person's head and they would think they came up with it that they should just give you the 3 billion dollars because of whatever reason.
It was awesome and I loved it, so if you like complex movies it's definitely for you. But I have a feeling that if the average American watched it they'd be terribly confused and possibly bored.

It isn't the same movie as the original, but it is Jaws 3D and I think you can rent it...unless they did a remake. Seems there are an awful lot of remakes lately. If you are going to the theater The last Air bender movie was fantastic.

But existenz, the matrix, and any other movie dealing with alternate realities in the subconscious all originated from philosophies from Plato. And it's not like that movie at all haha except for the fact that it deals with one's subconscious and one's reality.

But this one was pretty close, complete with multiple layers of alternate reality, and a box with tubes that take you there.

Ehhh box with tubes yes, but the layers of subconsciousness in the two movies are so different let alone the plot. Which is why it's not a "knock off".

Well the plots are different. Actually if you want me to get really geeky I think it was a blend of that movie and a star trek episode where one of the holographic characters becomes self aware and they fool him into another program where he thinks it is reality... They even have the holodeck in the movie at the very end where inception occurred... But yeah I just admitted a lot...
