Infection in my birdsnest

I've had this birdsnest for about two months, and has been growing well, but today I noticed a small section of damaged tissue. The damage seems to be a popped 'blister' that I noticed a few weeks ago. When I first saw it, I thought the blister might be a new head of growth, since the coral has grown from 2 heads to 15 in the two months I've had it. It now looks like this is some sort of infection. I took the frag out and put it in lugols solution for about 15 min. It was and is in an area of good flow, 1/3 up the tank. Has anyone seen this? Any other treatment ideas?
I have added a few corals around the time this first appeared, but all of them so far seem ok. My water parameters are:
SG: 1.024
Temp: 80-82
PH. 8.0-8.3 daily
CA: 420
Alk: 10.5 dkh
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
The first picture is from March 18th, but the blister was present earlier. You can see the blister at the red arrow.

Can't help ya with the problem...not something I've had to deal with and I've never seen that sort of problem before...but I sure hope it pulls thru...looks like a nice piece. I have a very small frag of the same coral.....its just starting to show signs of new growth.

Bump. The damaged area hasn't gotten worse over the night, so I guess that's a good sign. Anyone else have any ideas?

A dip in a concentrated iodine solution sometimes clears up infections and necrosis in corals, but it can also be stressful for a coral, so you are darned if you do, darned if you don't. Might be worth some research though.

Yeah, I dipped it in Lugols. The coral seems to be doing ok, and the damaged area has healed up a bit, so I'm keeping my finger's crossed.

what is the dilution of lugols that you use to dip your corals... (how many drops of lugols to how much water?)
Do you use the same concentration for a "sick" coral like you now have as you do for new corals coming into your tank.... and how long do you leave the coral in the dip?

I use the same concentration as I do for dipping new corals, which is what the directions say, 40 drops per gallon. I left the frag in about 15 min, I normally dip new corals about 10 min.
I've tried to post pictures yesterday and tody, but keep getting the database error message. Anyways, it looks much better today, and seems mostly healed. I'll keep an eye on it, but I think it will be ok.
