I read your comment. Let's try having a conversation without getting sarcastic and snippety.
If there was time to give away some, there was time to "deal" with them all. IMO. Notice I said this is what I would have done. I never said anything disrespectful to either you or them, so let's keep the conversation that way.

I agree, as I see you removed your comment about how my comment angered you and I had a "disregard for life". I am not withdrawing my comment, as I see is and rude to make comments about someone without knowing the entire situation. If someone said "Hey I left for the summer to backpack in europe and left my fish to die" negitive comments would be completely justified. That was not the case here. Sorry we apparently don't have matching opinions here

And that's okay! It's okay to have differing opinions! If we just keep in nice, we all learn so much more.
And I never edited my comment... it's still there in post 18. Please don't accuse me of taking out comments after the fact. I always considered to do so to be in poor taste.

You must understand that comments like yours and the disregard for suffering angers me.
But you're angry about the wrong thing. You think I'm taking into account whether they left for a "good" reason or a "bad" reason. You say I am rude for assuming they left for a "vaction". But I didn't say that. I never once made reference to any reason they had left. I'm not sure where you are getting that from my posts.
It doesn't matter to me why they left. So please, put that part of the debate aside.
BUT, if you want to have a little background... this is not their first "trip" (which they are calling a vacation). Maybe the fact they pulled the exact same thing in 2008....

So, peeps have different ideas of what should have been done. Let's come up with some tangible solutions to help the next person that has to leave in such a way.

BigJake,
I dont care what the reason for leaving was if you have a animal weather it be a fish or a dog you shoud take care of it before you leave.
There are petsitters who will come in and feed them for you for a small charge.
There is NO EXCUSE to leave your pets behind with no care for them!!!
I am entitled to my say and this is how I feel about it.
I have many pets and travel all the time for work and allways make sure my animals are cared for as do most people.

completely derailed...
If the fish is still alive I agree with adding water...slowly. That thing is a tank, and deserves some kind of treat...not sure what fish like for treats, get it a new plant
Good luck.

Listen, and understand. That fish is a terminator. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Absolutely totally derailed. But I think the fact that this happened last year means we should talk about preventative this time... not how to mop up the mess a second time. The mopping instructions was last year, this year is how to not have it happen a third time.

Good way to look at it, friend. You speak for us all and unfortunately carry the full burden of doing so.
Thanks.
