Injured ray

Well, either my shark or eel took a bite out of my ray. There is a bite mark in it's side that appears to have penetrated into the flesh. My ray seems to be doing ok... still eating and is spending a little more time buried than usual. My question is whether there is something that I can do to try to prevent infection. If you have knowledge in this area, I'd appreciate some input.

Nothing you can do unless you have a QT for the ray. You can expect the aggression to continue, now that it has started.

I'd probably research and see what species can be kept with one another before you buy them.
Poor Ray.

Poor Ray.

Are you suggesting my ray is incompatible with my other fish or are you simply spamming this thread?
If you have some actual knowledge then I'd love to hear it but if this is just unintelligent nonsense then nice joke... good one. I'm looking for some actual info here and it's clear you don't have any to offer (big surprise) so please refrain from hijacking yet another thread.

I would just do some more research before you buy your fish.
I don't know the species you have. I just know that obviously there's a problem with the mix you have. Just my opnion. Sorry if that's not allowed. I see your opinions everywhere.
I'd re-evaluate your tank selections to ensure success.

From time to time any aggressive fish will bite at another . It's just nature of the beast. There is nothing wrong with his selection. It's a perfect balance of fish. My shark tank is going to be stocked almost identical.
But to get to the point of this post and get this thread back on topic . I would just treat with some melafix and keep an eye out for redness . Maybe do a few extra water changes to keep water quality as pristien as posible. and add some garlic to the feedings to help boost the immune system of the ray .

But okay.

Just so everyone's clear, Whitey got a little angry when I pointed out some hypocrisy with him flaming a 9 yr old kid for having an overloaded tank when he himself keeps a 12" puffer in a 125. This is why his posts to me have nothing to do with fish but are merely an attempt to insult. Whitey have you ever had a shark or ray? Didn't think so. Do you think that one instance of food aggression or territoriality is indicative of a lack of research? You obviously don't have much experience with marine fish. Unfortunately this level of ignorance is rampant in the "advice" you give out all the time.
That being said, my ray is doing ok... just got nipped a little. My shark, ray and eel do get a little frenzied during feeding and the occasional nips are not unusual. This is the first time anyone has had a visible injury as a result. I'll watch them carefully to make sure this is not a continuing problem.
BTW, many people are already aware of this but my shark and ray have been together for just under 1 and 1/2 years with no problem.

Crimzy,
When I had my chainlink eel he went crazy when he smelled some food and bit my puffer pretty good. Could of had been the eel?

True... they are all almost blind and go nuts when they smell food.

I challenge you to find any advice I've given that is ignorant. With the exception of my comments to you, I follow these boards and give advice on topics that I've had experience with.
You search my posts all day to because you're a 30 year old child, so it shouldn't be hard for you to find this ignorant advice. Fact is, you're a jerk and a little too full of yourself. Your whole posting past is made up of childish comments to people.
Sure you give advice and your opinions, and that's fine. But you're the loser following my posts around, so if you're gonna cry when I come back at you, stop being an ass and we won't have to bother with it.

The selection of fish has is perfectly fine. as stated above eel's are bout as blind as bats and rely on smell mostly to feed so there for it was probably an accidental bite from the eel to the ray.
and there is no reason again to be calling people names!

That's fine and I agree with you on some points, however saying you're not sticking up for anyone and then sticking up for him kind of contradicts the comment.
I simply said he was acting like a child and for him to sit all day and respond with insults to my posts makes me assume he's a very childish person. And true, the daughter has nothing to do with anything just the point that I feel bad for anyone who knows him.
I'm done. But next post I have, will be followed by some stupid remark from this guy.
This thread should end.

Whitey wants this thread to end as long as he has the last word. The people around here have seen his MO. Before me, he singled out AW2 to personally insult and demean for him disagreeing. We all remember him completely hijacking numerous threads to tell everyone how much he disliked AW2's attitude, personality, fish knowledge or whatever. Now, he is kissing up to AW2 but is attempting to insult me. This is just his personality. I have never made a single personal comment against whitey but have disagreed with some of his fishkeeping advice and I have also had to come to the aid of a child, surfinusa, whose thread was taken over by Whitey ripping him. It got so bad that the thread was eventually deleted. Finally, Whitey, I'm taking the high road... I will not use obscenities or insult your family. You've exposed your character to everyone. Why do you think you don't get any support when you go on these rampages against people? Think about it.
BTW, kind of funny that he's asking this thread to be closed because he got all his insults out. Yet I started this thread with a legitimate swf question. Ironic...

Hey Crimzy! Just wanted to say hi...but I can't say who I am. LOL. Anyway, I am so sorry this happened. I hope he'll be okay!! If it gets too bad, just throw him in a QT. But I am not exactly sure what you can treat him with, because of the fact that he is made of cartilage like a shark!!! I hope he'll be okay.
