Hello to all!!!! :jumping::jumping::jumping:
I am developing a new web site for a local LFS in San Antonio Texas. I would really like some of your assistance on design and input.
1. I am looking to make an awsome FAQ for beginners all the way to very experienced. My problem is that I do not want to infringe on anyones material (copy right). If you have some great FAQ articles that you have done, and would like to possibly have them on this new web site, let me know.
2. Also if anyone has some great ideas, or would like to send me some content to add to the site, that would be greatly appreciated. (please no copy righted material)
3. Any info that would go good on a site about propagation.
Feel free to check out the site www.fin-addict.net and let me know what you think.
Again thanks to all for the help. I think this will be a fun experience.
My email is chrisb@t3-tech.com for any suggestions, info, content, or comments that you have. Please be gentle as I just started this 2 day ago.:jumping::jumping::jumping:

Research is easy. I have all of the info I need. I just wanted some input form you guys. I will admit that I also do not want to right all of the FAQs. I was hoping that someone would like to donate some of their work. Guess we will see what happens. Did you like the site?

That does suck. I am sure that they will ship at a very good cost. Send them an email to info@fin-addict.net and ask them. They are great people and love to work with people. They also have great prices that may counter act the shipping!!!!!! Give it try.

Nice site! Not to burst a bubble, but you do realize that this forum belongs to a competing site, right? I doubt you'll be able to post much stuff advertising your site. I don't have anything to help you, otherwise I would. Best of luck to you and your business.

That is true.
I am not trying to take anything away form saltwaterfish. There prices are great and I love their site. Just wanted some info from members who do have to go to their LFS.

Yes that is the idea. Also I have wanted to start my own site and this oppurtunity came along. So it was something that I was going to do anyway. It is great fun and makes it much easier to add to my own tank that I just started. If you go back to the site and click on the tank gallery, that is my setup that is 8 month old.

I'm a professional tester, it's my job to be critical, so please don't take offense:
1. The annimation may be overboard for those with slow processors, or with regular visitors who just want to get to the section they want.
2. The frame sizes do not do well on low resolution screens. Due to my eyesight, my resolution is at 800x600, I only moved up from 640x480 because no-one designs applications or websites fo that format anymore. Anyway, at 800x600, with normal IE toolbars up, the content takes up less than half the screen. I personally don't like frames anyway but it would take too much space to go into the details here. If you must use frames, make the header smaller.
3. All images should have alt tags, this will aid anyone viewing your site with text-only, or handicap assist browsers.
4. Add alternate browser support. Not all browsers are shockwave enabled. When I opened up the site in an old version of Netscape, I got a blank page. You need some backup html to either refresh the page to the next one, or a link. default.htm was readable in netscape, but there was a big blank space at the top of the content pane. Only the scroll bar indicated content below.
5. Any time you collect personal info (Contact us) you need to include a privacy agreement. Some people will be reluctant to submit without a secure link, but you can probably get away without it if it's a practical problem.
That's what I've got on a 10 min run through. I won't even charge for my professional services. :D
The grapics are pretty, Information arrangement is good, but it's position adds to your oversized header problem. (Wow, been too long since I tested webpages, I forget the technical term for Information arrangement.) I didn't spell or grammar check your dictionary, but any good word processor can do that for you. (Double-check, alot of good websites ruin the impression with silly little slip-ups.)

DSkidmore,
Thanks for the assessment. I really appreciate it. I definitely need to work on the top frame. I am still trying to decide what to do with that :notsure:. As for the older versions of web browsers, I think that we are going to complete the site and then adjoin a low bandwidth side that will handle older browser technology. Again thanks for the break down. I appreciate all constructive criticism.

Is that the store's official logo? If so, make it about 1/3 size over on the upper-left corner, some kind of slogan accross the rest of the top, and the menu options either running down the left side, or chaged to smaller buttons or text links.
If it's not the store's official logo, I'm sure you can figure out how to modify it's shape, shorter and wider. Same recomendation for the nav buttons.
