brown algae,someone said to increase low level current in water--i have a 46 gallon tank with an emperor 400 filter i believe??????with about 15 lbs of live rock and 30 lbs of live sand---what should i do to increase water current??i was instructed this was more than enough filter for this tank or is there something else i am lacking?any suggestions appreciated

Its not the filter,its the water flow. You should put in a power head to move more water around.

tang, depending on flow, i like having more smaller onew, for better coverage vs. flow(got 5 in my 75)

and to answer your q they are submersible pumps which you put into the tank for water movement

some come with suction cup haners, that you hang on the glass and that is pretty much it, hagens are real good, i gout a couple myself, and they do come with hangers, some others don't have the hangers

you can always hide some or all behind the rock too, i do agree with you, too and most only have 3 - 4 in 75's
and yes,they will increase circulation, and help by not having any stagnant areas in your tank, i like having a total combined flow(all sources including your filter added) of at least 10x your gallonage per hour, example for you would be 460 gph+, i have almost 20x at different levels facing in different directions(no whirlpool)
