It always seems like its one step forward and three steps back with these gas prices. One day the prices will start to drop down and then next thing you know they are saying gas prices are going back up because; its summer, its winter, there is a hurricain coming, a holiday is coming, OPEC cut production, its a wednesday, its a tuesday, its a month that starts with a J, the stock market is doing good, the stock market is doing bad, its a monday, its a month that starts to a letter other then j, its a thursday... etc.

Well, imo they are less sticky going up than down. But that is because with commodities they lose no money going up, but can going down. I also think nation wide, I wouldn't buy gas for a few days. And you'll see the tend continue downward. Opec announced cuts, Ike and yet the market is still falling. I heard news reports saying the damage to the oil infrastructure doesn't sound bad but it is really bad. But if 10 or 15 platforms are damaged out of 3500 then I'd say we got off light. If you don't know these platforms have to be build to withstand a "100 year storm" and this was no "100 year storm." MMS will make them inspect a lot of the pipelines and platforms, before they go online. But remember every minute these are down the company loses lots of $$. They'll get inspected quickly.

I use fuelmeup dot com to find the cheapest gas around. I commute 80 miles per day so I keep track of the best prices along my commute. I get gas about every 3 days.
Her in Northern Colorado, it is around $3.50 per gallon.

Hate to say it but price just dropped from $3.67 to $3.61 here. Hope everyone else in Hurricane Country are seeing the same trend.

California gas is always higher because California's reformulated gas program is more stringent than Federal and there are fewer suppliers of this "cleaner" gas. Add to that the sales, Federal gas tax, and state excise tax, prices stay high. Those in California living close to a border state are lucky. They go a few miles for much cheaper gas.

Some gas stations here have been reported for price gouging. I think one was up to $7? Ridiculous!!!!
imo a fool and his money are soon departed. If someone was dumb enough to pay 7 bucks a gallon. Then they deserve to pay seven bucks a gallon.
