Instant Ocean sea buffer

Can this be added directly to your DT without mixing it in water ? The instructions say add 1 teaspoon per 10 gal. daily to increase PH and ALk to desired levels. Thanks for the help.

Well first, what are those readings? NEVER dose this sort of things without testing alkalinity and calcium...if you do, you could REALLY mess things up. Do not dose it unless you need it. Ph problems are caused by several factors, and without a doubt most threads I've seen by people with "pH problems" do not have one.
Honestly, do not dose it unless you have an issue and tests for those (and calcium).

Can this additive burn or hurt corals? I just wan't to know if it can be added directly to your DT as per directions or is it better to mix this with DT water then pour in DT or sump.
Does instant ocean buffer the one thats little saltlike crystals, need to be mixed before adding. ?

Plate coral button polyp and star polyps prob won't make it I put in some ph buffer and it must have burned them the star polys are not coming out and the bottom polyps are closed as well, the plate coral half of it is already turning whitish with toxins coming out from it...I guess u cant just add this to your DT.

How big is the tank you are dosing?? Be carefull with a small tank as changes can happen too quicly. Try a little baking soda mixed in at least a few cups of water then drip add to the tank if you must dose.. A heck of a lot cheaper and works just as well. maybe better......

I would never add any type of additive to the DT without mixing it in tank water or however the instructions say, prior to being added to the tank. It can and will burn corals if the buffer lands on one.

I am never a fan of these sorts of products - they should always be dissolved as general practice, or at least put in a sump, never the display. These types of additives can be quite caustic to animals. Did you dose for an 80g? The other issue is that with LR and such you do not have 80 gal and this may have resulted in a too much too fast change.
But more likely than not the crystals landed on the corals and that has caused big problems. Just like you can make a concentrated paste of kalkwasser to kill pest anemones, the crystals themselves will be an irritant, and perhaps a significant one :(

Always add it to salt water and mix it thoroughly. Why are you having PH issues though. What kind of flow do you have in the 80? What are your nitrate readings? What is your dkh? When are you testing the PH?
