Hey all. Just ordered a new queen trigger from swf and am not sure how to introduce to my tank. I am now running a 45 gallon kex with a small huma huma and a 18 inch murry snoflake eel. Im sure you all have some good tips to give. I would hate to lose one of these triggers in the process. Thanks Timmy mac!

That's not big enough for a queen trigger. Don't purchase it.

that is way to small for your tank. they get almost 2 feet.they grow real fast and need at least 240 gal.

I will agree and disagree (a little). The tank is too small and ill shaped for this fish, that will increase the aggression, which is something you do not want to do with a queen.
I disagree about the chances of queens going loco on you. Small ones will not. With big ones I will give firsthand experience. Two instances I have seen with my two eyes - both in a 240g. One was a home aquarium with a large Volitans, med. French angel and large Sohal tang. The Queen in that tank was 12" and there were no major aggression issues. The other tank was in an LFS where I purchased my Queen - 240g with a 16" (minimum) Queen trigger (bigger than my head, freakin' beautiful), 6" (or so) Niger, 8" Clown trigger, 4" Tusk wrasse, 10" Porc puffer, many different chromis and damsels. I was flabergasted but all the owner really said was that he keeps them well fed. I may be off minutely in the sizes of the fish, but not the Queen since I couldn't take my eyes off it!
To sum up, don't get it!!!!:)

I forgot to add: The 16"er grew from 4" to 16" in four years. That equals 3" a year - very, very fast. So if you got one at 1.5" which is what SWF.com is selling, you will need a 50g in 6 months, a 75g in a year, a 100g in 1.5 years, a 125g in two years, a 180 in three years, a 240g in four years, and a 300 in five years. Can you commit?
jmo of course,

The 45 hex is just going to be a temporary home for my aggressive fish. I am building a new house and am getting a larger tank for aggressive fish. Im up for any sugestions on size, dont want to get too crazy. Will be moving in hopefully in 2 to 3 months. Do you think the 45 will sufice for that time? Thanks for all you imput Timmy Mac

Here is what you do:
Take a piece of cardboard and, using a tape measure, draw a horizontal line 18" long.
Now cross that with a vertical line 12" tall.
Draw the body of a fish around those lines.
Now draw a long streaming tailfin about 4 more inches behind the body.
Now draw big teeth on it.
All done? Now hold that up to your fish tank and your question should be answered. :D
- but yes, I don't see why a small one wouldn't be fine for a few months in there. but my opinion is just that, iykwim.
Any aggressive setup will have aggression though, isn't that always a risk? bb
