Hello everyone, I am really new to whole saltwater scene. I have a 29 gallon set up right now. It has been up for 2 weeks now. I have a couple of damsels in there. I have been using the Seachem Stabilizer for about a week now. It seems to be working pretty well. I have had a small 5 gallon freshwater for about a year now. I have 5 goldfish in there now and my son loves them. I do 20% water changes on the 5 gallon every week. I plan on buying a 180 gallon here soon like February or March. I plan on making the 180 gallon a saltwater reef tank and I think you guys can help me big time with the whole setup on that. Well that is it for now. It will be a pleasure talking with and meeting everyone here.

Welcome to the site! Please feel free to post any questions here - it is much cheaper to make your mistakes here rather than in your tank. Speaking of mistakes, I'm afraid that you have made one already. It is all too common to cycle a tank using damsels, but that is cruel to the damsels since the ammonium levels get quite high during the cycle, and it is cruel to the hobbyist, who is now stuck with some very aggressive and unfriendly damsels that require a complete tank breakdown to be removed. Take a look at Snake's guide for new hobbyists - it has tons of valuable information.

Welcome to the site! + 1 on what GeriDoc said...I think a good beginners book will also help you understand the lingo, and help you ask the right questions.

"The conscientious aquarist" by Robert Fenner is an excellent book. Also the "Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies" that book is amusing, and very helpful as well.
