I have my lr and ls in now. I am soexcited!! I added 3 damsels and they are doing good. We are appoaching the 24 hr. mark. So all is well. Any suggestions for some good inverts to add to the tank? It's a new start up, so I do not have any algae problems. I have been thinking maybe a cleaner shrimp, but wanted to get other opinons. Thanks.

What do you mean by 24 hour mark? Has your tank even cycled yet??

Nitrites are at 0. I wasn't referring to the tank, I was referring to the fish. Cycling is complete.

:notsure: I'm confused, on Feb 24 you posted that you just added LS. If that is true then I dont think you could have gone through a cycle yet. If you have not gone through a cycle wait.

You can spead up cycling with lots of live rock and live sand. I also used a cycling agent, to assis the process along, that was recommended by lfs store. I took several tests on various days and varified a nitrite level of 0. I then took a sample of water to my lfs to varify my test. They read it at a 0 as well. I then purchased my damsels. There is NO set time for cycling and many differant ways to speed the process up. If I would have put 75 lbs of lr I probably would have completed my cycle in 2-3 days. As it was the ls and lr combined with the cycling agent was pretty effective. I also was able to save a little bit of money , by not having to buy an additional 25 lbs of ls.

you could also save some money buy not buying anymore living things for your tank just yet. there is a good chance your tank has not even started its cycle yet. i know i have killed alot of things in my day so you might want to slow down a bit, or i could be wrong in your case. i never tried to use one of those additives in my salt water tanks. just keep checkin your levels, good luck. anyone else want to chime in

The rock was fully cured, in fact 2 of the large pieces came from someones tank. The ls was not from a tank, but was live. I will slow down a bit and make sure. From everything I have read and heard, once the NITRITES are gone, their pretty much gone. I'll keep an eye on it.

Hey Arkey,
Do you feed your Mexican Turbos? This site instructs you to only have one per 20 gallons. I have five like you, in a 55 gallon tank. I'm worried if they may starve.

I was reading on the fighting conch and it said, they should not be in a tank of less than 100 gal. How is yours doing?

I haven't gotten it yet, the LFS has to special order it. I got a little over half of whats on my list, I been introducing them in 3rds so not to overwelm the tank...and to see if the full list is neccesary.......
