lol. got a cleaner shrimp from swf yesterday and it was acting normal and eating and climbimg around the lr and stuff, todays its no where to be found, the only trace of it is an antenna floating around. this is the second shrimp ive had after a coral banded shrimp which was too big to wedge himself in a rock. i took all of my rockwork apart today (i figured if he died i needed to get his body to sent back and get my $20 back.) does anyone think he could still be wedged up in a rock or do you think my annenome could have eaten him? he doesnt look like he has, but i cant think where it could have gotten to.

it is very normal for shrimp to molt when they are first brought home due to change in scenery, calcium levels, etc. that's probably what has happened. when they molt, they shed their outter skin like a snake sheds it's skin. this is how they grow larger and stronger. during this time, the "new skin" needs to harden for a day or two, which makes them more vunerable to predation. that is why they tend to hide after molting. you probably made a big mistake moving rocks around because you could have crushed the poor critter.
just for future reference....whenever you buy a new shrimp, don't expect to see it for the first couple days because they are usually molting.
I don't see anything on your list that would likely kill the shrimp.

if the shrimp was killed, it could've only been the anenome (which I doubt) or the shrimp goby (which I also kind of doubt). how big is the goby and how big was the shrimp?

the goby is VERY small (like 1.5 ins and skinny, defiantely no shrimp in there! lol) and the shrimp was... uh like 1 in without its antennas. i highly doubt the annenome got it but im thinkin thats what must have happened

BTW the annenome is HUGE. its one of the ones with really long tentacles not the short stubby ones, so thats why im thinkin it could have snatched it.

The shrimp may have died for unknown reasons but once he died your emerald crabs would have torn him up quick. I had a shrimp that was fine at 3 am and dead by 10 am. My emerald crab had what was left of him when I found him (Which I wrestled away to get credit for his death)
