You see, iodine does not occur naturally.
That's like saying that you are going to supplement your tank with sodium. It seems like a good idea. I mean tanks need salt and since a salt molecule is Sodium chloride (hey look chloride-isn't that ionic?), why not throw in some sodium?
Well it wouldn't be bloody smart to do that, now would it? Sodium will react violently with water since it is not a pure naturally occurring element.
So basically what I'm trying to say is that you have iodide but it would not be inappropriate to say things like, "Your coral will appreciate iodine supplements."
If you think about it, what is iodide? It is iodine, but with a charge.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
