will iodine hurt fish?? i added some iodine to my tank last night, just trying to do some good and maybe help the inverts.
this morning i woke up and all of my fish are dead but the inverts are alive.
im really mad about the whole thing. i had me b hippo in there untill i put him in my large tank. im pissed. has anyone had troubles with this?

How Much did you put in...????? It only takes a very little amount. You should use a test kit when adding that stuff. To much can Kill your corals also. And You did use marine Iodine right???

yea it was kent. i dont think i put in to much but im taking the stuff back to my lfs i dont want to mess w/it

How much did you add and what is your water volume? Iodine can be very toxic and extreme care should be taken when adding it. Personally I refuse to add any additive unless I can easily/accurately test for it...in the case of iodine I believe it is maintained better via regular water changes. It is a trace element and required levels are very low.:thinking:

I only use Lugol's solution, and I only add one drop per 2 weeks to my 110, when I water change, I dont add any.
