Ok, probably stupid question but is 305 W to much light for a 35 GAL tank? That would equal about 8.71 watts per gallon. I just do not want to have a major bloom in Algae.

It's definately more than normal, or even most. That's a lot of light which will produce a lot of heat. You're likely facing a chiller if you don't keep it well above the water's surface. And you're definately going to be growing quite a bit of algae, most likely a ton of algae if you're not planning on a cleaner crew.

it depends on what kind of lights it is?? if its like 1 150 watt MH with a few PC's or VHOs it should be fine

that should be fine just keep it off the water by about 11 inches and have a fan blowing across the lights

Thanks for the help guys. I am already looking for a small fan. Now another question before the light gets here Thrusday. How to acclimate the tank or do I need to with a FOWLR tank?

Yeah I was worried about that because of all the light. I have two emerald crabs, a hermit, and a long spiny urchin.
