Is 3x400w 14000k Metal halides too much?

Is 3x400w 14000k Metal halides too much for a 150g Reef tank?
72"x30"x18" is the size.

depends what youa re keeping.

If 18" is the depth, then you could get by with 250W with no problem and still be able to keep about anything.

My tank is 30" deep. So the 3x400w halides will be ok?

With that deep of a tank, they are almost required. Unless you are keeping corals in the top 3" of the tank, things will be fine.
