I a reef tank with no corals, I have been running a fan for some time to keep the temp at 78 degrees. I decided to stop running the fan (for a variety of reasons) and the temp has slowly risen to around 81 degrees. Is that ok or do I need to turn the fan back on. If it is ok when should I start to worry (High Temp).

82 degrees is ok as long as its steady. I run mine 80-81. The problem you want to avoid is temperature fluctuations. You dont want to go from 78 to 82 then back down to 78 within a 24 hour period. That would be bad. You want a constant temp.

If you don't have any real sensative stuff 81 should be ok but if it goes any higher i'd turn the fan on. Haveing a stable temp is important so maybe you should consider a chiller...

Yeah, that's kind of high. You call it a reef tank and mention what you don't have in it, but what do you do have in it. For some things 82 may be ok and others it's not.
