Is an 802 too much power for a 55?

Having ANOTHER cyano problem...I think it may be too much lighting...not sure yet. I cut my lighting time in half. This is day 2. It's still there. Planning on a water change on or about Wednesday. Lights were new in March. Anyway, I'm thinking of putting an 802 in there for more circulation, but I don't want to have a sandstorm, or shock any of my inhabitants. Suggestions?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Aquaclear 802 powerhead which has a flow rate of 400 gph. I'm not sure what other forms of circulation you have but about 10-15x turnover I believe is recommended. I have about 20x turnover in my tank. Personally I would get 2 maxijet 900's. This way you can have more flow in more places and use less wattage.
