its stress. turn off your tank lights when you introduce him to reduce stress. if you can darken the room your acclimating him in. keep in mind he's been in a dark box for a day or two so sudden brightness can be stressfull also a lot of fish lose color in boxes, just something I have noticed having recieved over 40,000 fish when running the local pet store. he should return to his normal coloration in no time. Lots of fish shift coloration when stressed or panicked.

I am looking for a Pakistan myself. They are not the hardiest of butterflys. How did he look in the store? I am looking for darker markings like your first pic but the ones in my LFS are lighter colored and don't look as healthy. These could just be stress marks. Is he eating? How did you acclimate? Angels and butterflys can get these patches when stressed I know my majestic does, but I am not experienced enough with the butterflys, hope he makes it.

Probably. Fish fade/mottle when stressed or frightened. Give it some time to color up. Once in the tank leave rhe lights off for 24 hours. Don't give it a fresh water bath! You'll only stress it further. Good luck with this fish. As mentioned, it's not one of the hardiest of butterflies. Hopefully your tank is large, well aged, and has lots of live rock.
It's a Pakistan bf, also called Collare.
