It's a hit or miss with any angel. I had one he was great for 6 months..added a brain coral and he thought "dinner's served". Had to take him back to my LFS.
I have a coral beauty along with many corals and he has never even come close to bothering them. He loves to eat algae off the glass and leave his little lip prints. Great fish in my opinion-always in view. Also, my lfs has a large one in their coral tank!
The biggest problem with angels is that we don't know where they are harvested from. Of an angel is harvested from an area where the main food supply was a specific soft coral.... its going to have a tendancy to eat that coral. If it was harvested in an area that had an abundance of meaty foods... much friendlier fish... You best bet is to see how it feeds at the lfs. Is it quick to recognize flakes or what ever as food or does it fritter around a while?
Most angels are hit or miss....
coral B's are a... well... beautiful fish and I fully intend on adding one to my reef. Just haven't seen one I like stay at the LFS for the 3 weeks I like to study them before I purchase ANY fish. Which drove my wife nuts that I actually watched 2 clown gobies for 3 weeks in a small lfs before buying them.
But hey... I have yet to have any fish related problems yet. Shrimp are a whole other can of worms.
my coral beauty is a really nice speciman........it does go for the food I give it right away
I've looked on the internet and my CB looks in better shape than all the pictures i've seen........i'd post a pic but we are having digi-cam probs
thanks guys
I have sfot corals and a coral beauty and he never goes near them (in a hungry way) It depends on the personality of the fish. Some enjoy eating corals and some don't.
