I'm ready to order the water filtration, currently cleaning out the closet its going in .....So, one last nagging worry....
Is the D.I. part that great or is it just overkill?
The best we can buy if we don't have our own system is R.O., so isn't that pleanty good enough?

If all you want in fish-only, then RO is enough. If you want corals, then go with the DI. Not overkill and will do your corals good in the long run.

i have only a ro system the kent hi-s 35 gpd to be exact it claims to filter 97-99% particles. i don't have the di stage and i get water that reads 1ppm on my tds meter. i recently got some water from the lfs before my ro unit purchase and stuck a meter in it and it read 5 ppm. i have fish and anemones , xenias and some button polyps. everything seams to be thriving so i don't know how much a difference it would make. i thought i would run this without the di stage a while and see how things go and so far its been a couple months.

Thanks for the help. I keep vascillating from the typhoon 11(with the D.I.) & the R.O. unit from Sams. The R.O. system seems easier to install & comes with a tank but I think I'll do the Typh 11 because this hobby just seems to suck you in deeper and deeper and although I had no plans for coral I find I already have one (that someone gave me) and I can feel the pull.........
