OK I have just a couple of questions.(1)Is DSB ok for a reef? (2) Please give me a definition of aragonite and oolite(sp?) (3) From top to bottom to top could you describe the layers of a DSB. I know how thick it should be, just not what layer of what sand goes where? Thank you so much!

you should do a search and see what you come up with. different people do it differently. I personally have a 4" DSB of 100% southdown sand, i used a bag of LS to seed it though.
oolitic sand = fine sand

First, I wouldn't ever consider using anything BUT pure oolitic sand for a DSB for a reef.
I too used 100% oolitic aragonite for my DSB. No layering, I used all pure fine ESV oolitic sand. 5" deep. I simply seeded it with a small amount of living sand from my 7 year old mature tank to get it going. 4 months later it is teeming with infauna in the bed.
Oolitic sand is aragonite sand.

A dsb is what is reccomended for a reef tank these days. I have 80lbs of NAture's Ocean Live sand and it is fantastic! Not to mention there barely a cycle time. Well, I cheated and used some media from my mature tank.
