Is EcoSystem worth it??

I am buying many things today and I still need to make up my mind whether to get the ecosystem with miracle mud OR a refugium..
Anyone with suggestions???

since you are asking if an ecosystem is worth it, no. You can save the money and have a similar set up in a fuge with live sand and macro algae. Also, if you plan on using a skimmer, since the top is sealed they don't and won't fit into the first chamber. They make a "pro" system that can house a skimmer but it is usually included at a "pro" price. Just make sure you buy a large enough sump for what you want to do.

Thanks for the info. I didnt realize the top was sealed.
I guess I am better off with the refugium that I originally wanted to do.
I wanted to add the auto top off system in there too.
I saw that it says I can use the miraclemud in there too..but I am not sure if maybe Ill just stick to the LR and LS inthere

I just reread that. The top is only covered in the first chamber, where you'd want the skimmer anyway. The rest is open. Use the search option for miracle mud and you can decide if you want to pay for that as it is pretty pricey. There have been quite a few threads on its worth/worthlessness. Good luck!

Yup, worthless. LR, LS, and some macro is the way to go.

but I heard that if you do the ecosystem..then you do not have to dose since most of the things needed are in the miracle mud. You just have to replace the mud 1/2 every year.
Not worth it ya think?
