is it a clam? or what could it be

ok i jus bout some little coral from the LFS and theres a little round shell coming out from it... i think its a clam but has anyone ever heard of a clam or something on top of a coral?.// if so what do i feed it...it closes up and then crackes open... its new to my tank so its getting bolder about opening??.... i dont want it to die if so' let me kno

To me it sounds like a clam, I have a few. Most don't live too long, but they are good for your tank (help with the levels). I'd leave it!

could be a barnacle. They are ok as well...a pic would help
