Is It a good idea to separate a sump/refug?

You could do something like this...
Purchase and set up the "sump" with skimmer in it and then later purchase a rubbermaid tub or additional tank for the fuge and have it drain into the return pump chamber of the sump...
That way you can get the sump/skimmer and tank up and running and when you understand more of what the fuge is for, what it needs and how to set it up, you can do a decent sized system and still be in the relm of "purchased units" rather than DIY...(although there will still be some DIY hooking them up)

It will if you put it "directly" in the skimmer or return pump area...

But not if it's baffled into it's own "chamber"...of a one tank system...

So I don't need to separate? Just as long as their is a baffle between the two?
They tend to make it sound like it creeps into the sump anyways..
I guess I'll try that and see
