Powder blue...I know...I know...has been with me for about 6 months in the 90 gallons
Transfered into a 180 gallons 8 days ago.
Water quality is perfectly stable at 0 for 'trate, 'trite, ammonia, PH 8.4 temp is constant at 78.5
Powder is roommates with 2 yellow tangs, 3 perc, 1 maroon perc and couple damsels
Big blue developed bumps...all over him...90% BUT only 3 bumps have white tips.
Is it ICK?...tried for the last 4 days to capture him for the QT...caught everybody 2x's except for him
:help: :help: :help:
Please let it not be ICK!!!!!

Can you post a picture? Also, take a look at the fish pics of ich in the Diseased Fish thread at the top of the forum.

Sorry Beth...took about 50 pics...even at the highest resolution, it doesn't show up on the pics...the bumps are that small and has all the same colorations of the powder blue..only 3 bumps has the white tips as ick...I dropped the salinity just a tad today

See if you can post more pictures of what the problem is. Unfortunately he looks pretty healthy in those pics.....well, you know what I mean.
Is his flesh faded and swollen, or does it appear as if something is attached to him?
How big is he? And how active is he? What are you feeding him?

all the darker bumps actually are white now...

I wish to god I can catch him...I am stopping short of draining the tank...or just wait till he weaker so I catch him
I had 3 girlfriends over and we each got in a corner with a net...after about 30 minutes...it looked like girls gone wild at a wet t-shirt contest and we didn't even get close once...
He is 4.5 inches...50% of the bumps are now holes...I feed him 1/2 piece of nori with 4 drops of garlic extrac everyday for the last 5 months, pellets also with garlic, 1 drop per teaspoon, cyclop-eeze once a week
gills are breathing normal, fins are now ick-y. he is as active as before
strange huh?

Where will you put him if you catch him.
Is that a reef tank, or just LR?

it's a reef...I have a QT set up (3 months) with just LR and LS...some caulerpa to keep the nitrate and ammonia at 0 and 2 damsels to "feed" the prolifera.
I read up on your formilian (sp?) bath...and the hyposalinity...I was going to try the hypo first...then the bath.
***update***
this morning the bumps are down to only 50% :cheer: and I notice that every couple of laps around the tank...he goes and "lay" down by cleaning station that my skunk has set up...and the shrimp would junp on him...5 seconds or so, the powder blue would take off on his laps again...
All my fingers, toes and eyes are crossed for him!!!!!:nervous:

I caught him!
ICK ~white tips are so much worse now...on his eyes too.
Put him in the QT after 2x's 8 min pure fresh water dip...white tips are still there only about 5% gone...will dip him again tonite.

I fresh water dipped him in a half gallon bucket with 1 capful of CopperSafe for 5 mins tonite...this is what he looks like now...we'll see if he makes any improvements...
Beth ~
The LFS did not carry any formidihyde for the bath...so I decided to try the copper/fresh water bath...I hope that's ok too?

Wow. Don't use formalin and no more FW dips. Can you begin the hyposalinity immediately? Do you have a refractometer?
Can I have your picture for our Diseased forum reference thread?

Beth ~ Of course you can use the pic...as you can see...I finally learned how to use the camera.
I don't have a refractometer...is a Sea Test Full Range Specific Gravity Meter by Aquarium Systems ok to use? it tests for Salinity and Specific Gravity.
