Is it normal for a naso tang to get white discoloration spots at night and most of it disappears when the lights turn on? I just received him, he is in a quarantine tank now
It doesn’t look like salt it’s bigger and not on it, just discoloration spots grayish & white it’s been going on for 4 days he doesn’t eat yet but swims around <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />
My naso will get lighter and get spots over his body when he is stressed out, something is stressing him out, maybe water quality, tank mate etc. Justin
white blotches are surely stress signs i had one and he'd break out like that when startled or stressed---They would go away within 15min after.
Do they come and go or do they stay--if the are always there he is always stressed which could be anything from that other tang to the qt itself to water quality. Don't let him stay that way long, they're hardy but not invincible.
Naso's are one of the few fish i know that can actually tell you there unhappy by discoloring themselves like that.
yes it is normal for that tang to have what look like white blotches on him when the lights go off. as said before you can also see them when he stresses out. they realy get pail when the lights go out.
I definatley agree that those are what they are. My naso gets them when he is stressed or when the Yellow is pickin on him like he is now! How long have they been in the qt? He's probably just not liking being so cooped up with another tang.
I would put the naso in your tank now--then add the other one a few days from now or whenever since he's doing much better int the qt. This is a risk of course since they say at least 14 days in qt, but your naso may not last that long if he's this stressed.
