is it ok to run 2 filters?

72 gal bowfront
100 lbs lr
130 lbs ls
fluval 404 running
emperor 400 running
aquaclear 70 power head
aquaclear 30 power head
is it good/bad to be running the two filters?
I just started the fluval today, got the filter for free from a friend, just needed new media (pre-filter,carbon,carbon,bio-maxx) also 4 new foam blocks, is it ok to run it without the intake strainer?
I figured it couldnt hurt ?

i dont think that running two filters would hurt anything but i've never done it. it would probably do more good than bad.

Yes put the strainer on. I've had to get snails out of mine till I put it on. Not that it sucked them up. But there's food up there for them.

I run a Fluval and hob double biowheel (I believe it's the exact same one as yours) along with a skimmer on my 130 gallon with no problem at all! Just be religious about changing out the media and rinsing out the cannister and hob to remove any detrious that may be collecting in them at least monthly!

Oh yah, I have a 75gal tnk. I use a canister filter and a double biowheel filter. you don't say anything about a protein skimmer, If u don't have one, u should really look into one. ***) :cheer:

I've got a lil seaclone 100, its on my 37 gal right now, was just waiting for the cycle to finish on the 72 gal, before I swapped all my stuff over...
good to know I can use both filters though !!!
