im making a refugium and i wanna draw out where im gonna glue everything down, and then measure those lines instead of doing it all blind. can i draw with a sharpie marker? or would it be bad for my tank?

i've got some lines in my 20, but you could always use something that would come up easier too, like a grease pencil or even a crayon.

Put your marks on the "outside" of the tank...You can see them through the glass/acrylic...
Then after it's all glued up you can clean them off without baffle interference and the "cleaners" won't affect the water...

Even though a sharpie is non toxic, it may mess with delicate fish or corals and will eventually come off in the water. If you have a glass fuge, you'd be better off drawing on the outside. If it's opaque like a plastic tub, then you can scrape your lines with a razor on the inside.

ive always wondered this but with something alittle different.
one fish store mark the bag that hold the fish/coral witha sharpie the price on it for when i go to the counter to pay.
then if i put that bag in my tank to acclimate. does the marker where off. i've never rubbed it or anything to see what happens.

To be on the safe side, I would would doodle on the out side of the tank.
AJWaters, "...fish store mark the bag that hold the fish/coral with a sharpie..."
Something else to worry about
:scared:
What I do is place water and fish in a small empty tank(1 g) Then put the air hose/stone, and drip line into it. My tank water brings up the temp of the store water just fine. I really never have known what contamanates the outside of the bag may have. I may be too cautious.
