Is it safe to dump dirty water in the sink?

I have read that some algae can survive in the pipes long enough to make it through and become transplanted nuisances in the environment.
Don't let Algore hear about this; or soon the potty police will be enforcing a "no-dump" (tank water
) law!

I dump mine in the ditch. It has taken about a year, but I'm starting to see the weeds die in some areas.

My 1st choice is always where its easiest. Its human nature; the easier water changes are, the more they get done. I have an incredibly easy "Rube Goldberg" type system; water used to go down the drain, now into the space between the house & patio--where I want all greenery to die anyway.

That would have been my 1st guess.
The idea of Saltwater algae surviving a trip thru a septic system or municipal sewage system and harming the environment goes (IMO) way beyond anything I can imagine. Algae spores (or whateve they're called are everywhere. Put a cup of distilled water in the sun and see how long it takes for algae to appear. BTW, putting rocks,in old tankwater, in the sun is a great way to farm food for herbivores to graze on; For those of us who don't have enough natural growth in the tank. I use this in my "retro" tank (soon to be tanks) with no LR and used it for many years before LR was popular.
