I came back from a 3 day vaction and I noticed this large white area on my green open brain and now he's all shriveled up.
Did he cut his skin and is this the start of an infection?
Thanks

Sure looks like a little tissue recession...I couldn't even guess at a cause. But its been my experience that they seldom recover and may continue to decline. The best you can do it provide ideal circulation/lighting/water chemistry...and maybe try to target feed it for a while. They can recover but many times they'll continue to get worse once tissue starts receding like that.I currently keep a sort of small speciman that has struggled at times but so far I've managed to keep it from becoming a total loss...mine has adjusted well to several minor problems and near death experiences.Good luck helping yours to recover and keep us posted on how it does. It would be interesting to see future pics of a healhty recovery.:happyfish

thanks and I'll hope for the best. He was doing so well until 3 days ago, no clue what happen.
Isn't there some "coral dip" that would help?
Thanks

Are these usually hard to keep corals I notice they die pretty easily and I've seen so many at the lfs with skeleton shown. What sucks about these corals is when it starts to show skeleton most of the time they can't recover.

Thank for everyones reply. he's looking terrible this morning and I noticed one of my shrimp picking at his skin. I'm guessing by tonight he'll be 100% gone.
Usually these guys aren't hard to keep, I'm guessing either one of my fish or a shrimp picked at him.
I have 260watts of PC light and needed to have him somewhat towards the top, he never really thrived in the sand bed for me.
weird....
