Is my feather duster dead?

Last night one of my feather dusters was reaching way out of his tube. This morning I noticed that the whole thing came out. Not just the crown but the whole worm came out. Is it dead? The worm part is lying on the bottom of the tank, but it is moving around. Should I just take it out and through it away?

Maybe he didn't like his previous location? maybe he's trying to find a new home? I'm not sure.
I had a feather duster that lost it's crown once... I thought it was dead but left it in there for several more days anyways and he grew a new crown :)
What does he look like out of his tube anyways? I've always wondered.....

It kind looks like a snake with a point on the end. I touched it and it was slimy and squishy. When I touched it though this grren liquid came out of it.
Yesterday my clown fish decided to swim in it. I dont know why either. There are 4 anemonies in the tank. Maybe he ticked the feather duster off.

They will leave their tube(not all will do this)
they can create a new one,not sure if the same
applies, but if they lose their feathers,I've
read that it's cause of poor water.Anything that
is moving around is alive.

they do loose their crowns, and they do leave their tubes, form time to time, if they do not like thier current location

i would leave it alone....it will probably grow a new tube. feather dusters are really hardy. i bet it isn't dead.

Golfish,
I believe this topic has to do with feather dusters not anemones. <img src="graemlins//yell.gif" border="0" alt="[yell]" />

Thay do jump ship from time to time. They can and will spin new tubes if not eaten first. I had one do the same thing and now is much bigger and healthier than before. Just keep a close eye on em'.

Do you have other feather dusters (of the same kind) in this tank?
It could have mated. I had one that was extended out of it's tube that did what I believe was some sort of mating dance. The next day it had left it's tube and died. Now, I'm not saying that yours will die too, but if it mated, it "might". I would certainly leave it alone if it is still alive, but watch it carefully, you will want to remove it if it is indeed dead.
For having such beautiful crowns, they sure are ugly aren't they?
