is my tank ready for fish & corals?

In regards to your question about the marine betta; I have a 5" in my 55 reef and he doesn't bother a thing. In fact, I rarely get to see him. He spends the majority of his time hanging out behind my LR and comes out every now and again. I would say that they are reef safe, but if you want a fish that you get to see often, I wouldn't suggest getting one. But they look so damn cool when they are swimming about. :)

RE: multiple tangs
keep in mind other factors how big will you purchase them, and how long will you keep them? some LPS repurchase fish that become too large for your tanks.
putting in multiple tangs is definately something to "WATCH" carefully.. but I have done it successfully, and seen "many" others do the same. Do a search for salt water pics - and see how many you can find.
I had a blue hippo and achilees that got along great for over 4yrs - before i gave em both back to the pet store and tore my tank down for personal reasons. I got them fairly small (3" or so and they grew to about 6") They were much of my pride and pleasure in enjoying the tank. The blue hippo is extremely beautiful - would eat out of my hand - and the Achilees would walk/swim w/ya across the tank - always ready to be face/face w/ya.
I have heard achilees are very fragile but i never had the first bit of problems - some people are good - some are just lucky :) lol
I would not be afraid to try multiple tangs - but i would limit it to 2 (3 max and if very small) and just REALIZE the risks and concerns that you need to aggressively watch for. Put them in 1 at a time, and preferably the most DOSILE first to get him time to get entrenched :)
I would not attempt to put a yellow tang with another as they are often aggressive - and remeber if you do attempt it your BEST bet is to keep them of different body shapes.
Best of luck to ya..and hope you have 1/2 the fun i had w/the tangs i had :)
