at night he hides under the same rock all night, and he doesnt swim all around the tank during the day, he is always going in and out of the live rocks and pecking at the live rocks...is this all normal?

Triggers go to the same place everynight and lock in for the night to sleep. My humu humu has a favorite hole in one rock and everynight when the lights go out he heads for his bed. All you can see is his tail. He doesn't like any of the other fish near his sleeping place during the day he will push them away.
Mine does swim all over the tank, but he loves swimming in and out of the LR picking on it.
Sounds like your trigger is just being a trigger.
