I am currently in the process of setting up my saltwater tank. I am deciding on what salt mix to use.
I was thinking of using reef crystals salt mix or Oceanic or maybe something else ...... I am leaning towards reef crystals....
Anybody have any comments or opinions about reef crystals? Or anyone think Oceanic or some other salt mix is better.
Any help is definately appreciated.

reef crystals are good for the money, but if you are doing a large tank and are going to grow sps and lps and want a spectacular reef u can use a mix that is really expensive, its like 70 for a bucket. i cant remember the name but its like the most expensive one u can buy, but i would use reef crystals, its good for the money

I would assume elbob is talking about Tropic Marine Pro Reef. I currently have a bucket of IO reef crystals and it is working okay for me. I may try the Pro Reef when I need more salt just to see if it is worth it for life or not.

Reef Crystals is definately the way to go. I use it at home in my 210 gallon reef and we use it at the LFS where I work. In my mind its the best salt you can buy.

I am using Tropic marin Pro reef at the moment and intend to switch to Reef Crystals. That TM pro is to expensive for what you get. I think everyone assums that since it is expensive that it's the best. Well I don't agree since I get way to high calcium and to low of alk which was pretty much the same I got from Oceanic. That's why i will change to Reef Crystals when this bucket runs out. I figure why not try some cheaper stuff, maybe it is actually better.

Hey all.
Thanks for your replys. I am going to go with the reefcrystals, i have heard good things about it and some of you just confirmed that. I just needed to ask before i made up my mind to try it:) I used to use tropic marine pro on my old reef tank before i sold it when i had to move but its so expensive i wanted to try something cheaper.
btw i am setting up a 46 gallon reef tank.
have a great day!
