Is Roger Clemens a Liar?

So..... for those of you who haven't heard, Roger Clemens, pitcher for the NY Yankees is suing his former trainer because the trainer claims he gave Clemens HGH & steroid shots. Clemens strongly denies the claim and has given a VERY heated interview on 60 mins and a press conference stating that yes, his former trainer did give him injections but to his knowledge they were lidocaine and B12. He says if his trainer ever did, in fact give him steroids, he was lied to about what injections he was recieving. Team mate, Andy Pettitte has already admitted to knowingly recieving HGH injections from the same trainer, but Roger still denies it and is now suing the trainer for defemation. Maybe I am just blinded by my love for the NY Yankees and my love for Clemens as one of the greatest pitcher in baseball, but I believe him. So, what's your opinion??

Dunno and we probably will never know for sure but Rog has certainly done good for an old guy. I would lean towards guilty but it isn't as obvious as it was with Bonds. That tape they played of Clemens talking to the trainer gave me the impression the train felt like crap for ratting out his friend, not some one who had made up a lie just to.... Come to think of it what would this guy gain by lying?

Why would he get a lidocaine shot in his backside? I think he knew what he was doing and I don't care. HOF in 5 years.

He never said the shots he did recieve were administered to his back side, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I think he is lying. Let's assume that his manager was giving him injections without his knowledge. I think the first time I was drying off in front of a mirror after a shower and noticed "the boys" were gone, I could put 2 and 2 together.

The only reason I think he is lieing is because Andy Pettite admitted to doing it...Those 2 are best friends, have the same trainer, and work out together and have for years....Rocket is claiming to be shocked that Andy did, give me a break.

He is a liar... He orginally denied it all... now said he was injected with different substances. Has not placed a lawsuit on the trainer... Took him a long time to issue any denial except for a statement. His results are more clear that Bonds to the improvements he gained the year(s) in question. Now said he do a lie-detector... has to think about it. He seem like more of an Ahole than Bonds does to me.

yes, he's lying. and no, the results of his use is no more apparent than Bonds'. I love how some can take up for one and trash the other. they're both cheaters.

I would have to guess that he is lying.
So many people have admitted to using that I wouldn't be suprised to hear any baseball player's name on a list of steroid users.

You can go back to when Clemens was w/ Toronto... there was an immediate change.. I watched something on tv about it.

the accusations didn't start in Toronto, they started in NY. and no, there was no immediate change. now you say that Clemens production due to performance enhancers was more obvious than Bonds'. ok, so let's look at the stats. because as far as I'm concerned, the stats don't lie when it comes to sports and performance enhancers. I'm looking at pre- and post- 2000 because that is around the time that both Clemens and Bonds are said to have started juicing.........
pre-2000
Bonds averaged 30 HR/per year
31 stolen bases/per year
103 walks per year
.570 avg slugging pct.
post-2000
Bonds averaged 45 HR/per year
7 stolen bases/per year
169 walks per year
.722 avg slugging pct.
pre-2000
Clemens average record was 15 wins and 8 losses
143 strikeouts per year
3.18 ERA was his average
post-2000
Clemens average record was 13 wins and 6 losses
166 strikeouts per year
3.30 ERA was his average
now, please explain how Clemens use was more evident than Bonds. ALL of Bonds expected offensive output INCREASED post-2000 and the major drop in stolen bases is what would be expected from someone who has bulked up on enhancers. now other than an increase in average strikeouts, Clemens numbers have actually NOT improved, they've gotten SLIGHTLY worse.
of course, common sense would say that Clemens could not maintain close to those kinds of numbers without performance enhancers and that is why I believe he is lying. but there is NO case that can logically be made for the explosion of Bonds numbers without performance enhancers.
now, if you can look and the facts and the stats and say again that there's more proof that Clemens was using than Bonds, then I say you're very biased. but I know that already. I'm not biased at all....I say they were both juiced cheaters.

Who knows if he is telling the truth, but the thing that REALLY bugs me is that Mitchell didn't even go up and speak with clemens? How are you going to hang someone out to dry like that and not even give him a chance to defend himself?

Maybe he is lying, no one knows for sure but him. The sad part about the whole mess is because so many players have done this in the past even if he is telling the truth, most people don't believe him & his career in now most likely over. He was one the greatest pitchers in baseball and it's just really sad for him, his team mates, his family and his fans to see him "go out" like this. That's the bottom line.

Probably, but who knows? Personally, I don't really care. If he used, and the stuff is that bad, he'll reap his just rewards I suppose.

not true. every player in the report was notified beforehand and given the opportunity to speak personally with Mitchell in order to clear themselves. Jason Giambi and Frank Thomas were the only 2 active players to meet with Mitchell. Clemens was among the masses who decided not to because he wasn't required to. now given that he was the biggest name on the list, he could've made a great example for the other players by meeting with Mitchell, but chose not to. so he can start all the lawsuits to try to save face now, but he should've tried doing something BEFORE the report came out.

How Many No hitters/Perfect games has the "Rocket" thrown ?
There's only 2 pitchers I'd fear ; the unit and "42".
